December 16, 2017 - Myths as Cultural Asset in the Context of Our Mythical Childhood Project, University of Maroua
Report by Prof. Daniel A. Nkemleke
A bloc seminar for MA/PhD students was organized in the Department of English at the University of Maroua (UM) in the far north region of the country. Nineteen MA and twelve PhD students took part. The seminar was focused on research orientation in the area literature, general linguistics. However, I used the opportunity to present a paper on myths as cultural assets to the students, many of whom came from neighboring Chad. We discuss the OMC Project, including guide lines on how to collect myths around the villages in the Far North and Chad. In the coming year, we hope to have a collection of entries from these areas.
