Contents & Purpose

This resource offers 4 PDFs on ancient Greece. Facts on ancient Greece are introduced by the animated character of Max, the time-travelling mouse. The information appears like advertisement for a forthcoming issue of Mini Histories series.

PDF 1 + 2: The facts include  brief information on: the geographical borders of ancient Greece, Trojan horse, Aristotle, Hippokrates, Homer, athletics, theatre, myths, gods, growing up in Greece.

PDF 3:  offers a short mini-quiz which the readers can answer and send to National Geographic and perhaps win a prize

PDF34:  Mini Histories comics, Max on Mount Olympus. In this 2 page comics we are introduced to Zeus, Apollo, Hera, Hephaestus, Athena, Aphrodite, Hermes, Poseidon, Hades. One panel refers to the ancient Titans, the next to the division of the world by the three brothers (Zeus, Hades, Poseidon). The other panels show Heracles, Theseus and Perseus.  The panels are very short and only meant to serve as a teaser to the actual myth and not give it in full.

Further comments

These resources provide a glimpse into ancient Greek mythology  in a light and humoristic tone. The students are encouraged to use the given facts as the basis for further learning on ancient Greek. They can create their own comic  for example  or design their own statues of monsters.
