Penelope Lively
, b. 1933
Penelope was born and raised in Egypt and came to England in 1945. She has written more than twenty fiction, non-fiction, and contemporary fantasy books for children and adults. She won the Carnegie Medal for British children's books in 1973 and the Booker Prize in 1987.
