Bole Butake

Bole Butake is an Anglophone Cameroonian prolific dramatist and theatre director who was born in Nkor, Noni Sub-Division, Bui Division of the North-West region of Cameroon. He studied at the University of Yaoundé, where he received his B.A., then the University of Leeds, where he obtained his Masters in English, and returned to the University of Yaoundé where he was awarded a Ph.D. in African Literature in the Faculty of Arts, Letters and Social Sciences. He became professor of performing arts in 2012, the same year he retired from the university. He authored nine plays, among which is Lake God, and directed more than twenty-five theatre productions. He died in 2016.
