Achmat Dangor
, b. 1948
Achmat Dangor is African writer of Asian and Dutch blood roots. He has written a number of books including Waiting for Leila (1981) and Khafka’s Curse (1997), all of which were influenced by the apartheid system of government of South Africa at the time. His anti-apartheid activism brought him close to the former South Africa leader, Nelson Mandela, and famous apartheid anti-campaigner, Destmund Tutu. He was one-time manager of the Nelson Mandela Trust Fund, as well as a Trust Fund set up by Tutu and other politicians to victims of the apartheid system and their families.
